There are 4 game modes in Heroes and Generals: Encounter, Skirmish, Assault (Staged Battle), Assault (War Battle). They have different ways to win a match.

Encounter mode:

  • 1 single control point
  • Capture and hold the control point for more time to win
  • Make enemy team run out of tickets to win
  • The progress bar of each team shows the holding time of each team

Skirmish mode:

  • 3 control points
  • Capture and hold more control points for more time to win
  • Make enemy team run out of tickets to win
  • Hold all 3 control points to make progress bar move faster
  • Progress bar moves slower when holding only 2 control points
  • Progress bar is not moving if holding a single or zero control point
  • The progress bar of each team shows the holding time of each team

Assault mode (staged battle):

  • Multiple control points (in which there are 2 or 3 main control points at centre of the battlefield)
  • Before the time runs out on the progress bar of the defending team:
    • Capture and hold all control points to win
    • Make enemy team run out of tickets to win
    • The progress bar of attacking team shows the ratio of captured control points over the number of all control points
    • The progress bar of defending team shows the amount of time passed over the whole amount of allowed time
  • After the time runs out on the progress bar of the defending team:
    • Capture and hold all main control points to win
    • Make enemy team run out of tickets to win
    • The progress bar of each time now shows the ratio of captured main control points over the number of all main control points

Assault mode (war battle):

  • The same like assault mode (staged battle)
  • The difference is the amounts of resources are not balanced between both teams, it is based on how the generals set.

Balancing matter between attacking team and defending team:

  • Before the time runs out on the progress bar of defending team, the attacking team has more advantages as capturing only the main control points makes a win; this makes the defending time has no more time to correct their mistakes.
  • After the time runs out of on the progress bar of defending team, the defending team has more advantages as the base control point of defending team is already one of the main control points
